What If Achieving a Dream Doesn’t Change Your Life?

It’s been a few months since I last wrote here.

I didn’t plan it. I didn’t even decide to stop. It just kinda happened.

Life was happening: projects, trips, paintings, ideas. Some things worked out, and some didn’t. And honestly, I like to think that when something doesn’t work out, maybe it just wasn’t the right time for it.

And actually, thinking about how life just… happens is what made me want to come back and write again.

A lot has happened in the last few months, both professionally and personally, and I started having this weird feeling that I wanted to share with you guys.

When I started painting during the pandemic, so many things felt sooo far away from me.

Painting a building. Painting in another country. Being part of big projects. Getting interviewed internationally. All that stuff.

And in my head, these things were almost like portals. Like, once I got there, once I did one of those things, my life would completely change.

And it did.

But not really in the way I thought it would.

On social media, we see the finished wall, the trip, the festival, the exhibition. But almost nobody talks about what happens after that.

Because through art, I’ve been to places I never thought I would go. I’ve met artists I’ve admired for years. I’ve seen my work on huge walls. I’ve traveled thousands of kilometers carrying spray cans, paintings, projects, and this mix of anxiety and excitement that, by now, feels pretty normal to me.

And then I come back home and… everything is kinda the same.

Emails to answer. Furniture in the exact same place. Proposals to send. Floors to clean. Rejected proposals. Bills to pay. You know, normal life.

And coming back to your routine after living something so special is weird.

Sometimes it almost feels like a cold shower after all that good energy of finally doing something that, for such a long time, felt sooo far away.

And I don’t know, there’s something interesting about that.

Maybe we expect achieving a dream to feel as intense as dreaming about it.

You spend months, sometimes years, imagining what it’s gonna be like when that thing finally happens.

And then it happens.

And it’s fucking amazing.

You feel happy, proud, fulfilled, all of it.

But then a few days go by, you come back home and suddenly that thing that once felt impossible is just… something you did.

It became part of your story.

And now you’re already looking at the next thing.

That’s why lately I’ve been thinking about life more like a staircase than a straight path.

We’re always moving, and every achievement is another step.

Some are big. Some are small. Some you climb without even noticing. Others look fucking huge when you’re standing at the bottom looking up.

But not every step is gonna completely change your life.

Or at least, not in the way you thought it would.

Because things also happen in their own time.

Sometimes a project introduces you to someone. A trip gives you an idea. A painting you made two years ago somehow gets in front of the right person today and brings you an opportunity tomorrow.

We just don’t know.

And I think life is kinda built like that.

This weird mix of situations, people, projects, things that work out, things that don’t… and we just keep creating without really knowing where any of it is gonna take us.

Sometimes something that looks like it went nowhere is actually, quietly, becoming part of something bigger.

And maybe that huge transformation we expected after achieving a dream doesn’t happen overnight.

Maybe it’s already been happening for a while.

We just didn’t notice.

So yeah… we keep going.

And actually, this blog coming back after all these months is part of that too.

It’s a place where I can share a little bit of this whole journey. The things I’ve been living, the experiences I’ve had, and all these random thoughts that show up along the way.

I’m still achieving some of my dreams.

And I’m still trying to understand what the hell happens after them.

And I share all of this here because maybe some of these experiences can somehow help you achieve yours too.

Or at least make you look at life from a slightly different perspective.

Because maybe achieving a dream doesn’t change your whole life at once.

Maybe it’s just another step.

And maybe that’s already a lot.
